Start with your new address

Availability is street-level. Two homes on the same block can have different options.

No credit check to compare We never sell your data
The short version

Yes — you can set up electricity, internet and home security for your new home in one place, and it costs nothing to use. Utility Search compares plans from national and regional providers at your specific new address. You pay the provider directly, at the same price you’d get going to them yourself.

  • Electricity — shoppable in 13 states plus D.C. If your new address is in a regulated market, we’ll tell you that instead of selling you something you can’t buy.
  • Internet — available nationwide, 20+ provider brands, fiber / cable / 5G.
  • Home security — available nationwide, professionally monitored and self-monitored options.
  • Best time to start: two to three weeks before move-in for internet, about a month for electricity.

What you can set up here.

Three things every mover needs, three separate phone trees you don’t have to sit through.

13 states + D.C.

Electricity

In deregulated states you choose your retail provider — which means you can be overpaying without knowing it. We compare live rates for your new address.

  • Fixed and variable plans side by side
  • Real all-in cents per kWh, not teaser rates
  • Start-service date matched to your move

Internet

Moving is the one moment you’re not locked in. If your old provider doesn’t reach the new place — or a better one does — now is when you find out.

  • 20+ provider brands: fiber, cable, 5G home
  • Address-level availability, not city-level guesses
  • Install dates before move-in, not after
  • New-mover promos surfaced automatically

Home Security

Your College HUNKS crew already recommends changing the locks and testing the alarms. This is the rest of that checklist item.

  • ADT, Vivint, SimpliSafe and Ring compared
  • Professional monitoring vs. self-monitored
  • Renter-friendly, no-drill options
  • Install scheduled around your move date

How it works.

No account. No credit check to compare. No one shows up at your door.

Tell us where you’re going

Your new address and your move-in date. We use the address to check what actually reaches the property, and the date to schedule service so it’s live when you arrive.

See what’s actually available

Side-by-side plans and prices from the providers that serve that address. If a category isn’t shoppable where you’re moving, we say so rather than showing a list you can’t use.

Pick, and we handle the setup

Order online or talk to a person at (844) 437-9527. Your account is with the provider — we get you to the right one and make sure the start date lines up with your move.

When to do what.

College HUNKS already publishes this timeline in their moving checklists. Here’s where each step actually gets done.

4 weeks outBooking your move
Contact the utility provider for your new home and get the account opened, so there’s power and water the minute you move in. “A month before you move, call up the local utility company that provides service for your new home.” — College HUNKS moving guide
2–3 weeks outPacking
Sort internet and TV. If your current provider doesn’t serve the new area you’ll need a new one — and installs book out, so this is the deadline that actually bites. “Give any new company at least a two to three-week heads up that you’ll need them to set up service in your new home.” — College HUNKS moving guide
1 week outFinal week
Confirm start dates, and ask about introductory rates while you’re at it — new-mover pricing is usually better than what you’re paying now. “Ask about any introductory rates or promotions that could lower your bills.” — College HUNKS moving guide
Move-in dayCrew on site
Change the locks, test the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and check the security alarms. If the home doesn’t have a system, this is the moment to sort one.

Why this is free.

The honest answer, because you’re going to wonder.

Providers pay us
We’re an authorized dealer for the providers we list. When you start service, they pay us a referral. You don’t.
Your price doesn’t change
You pay exactly what you’d pay going direct to the provider. We never add a fee or a markup — that’s in writing.
We’re independent
We’re not owned by a carrier or an energy company, so no provider gets house treatment in our results.
Your data stays put
We use your address to check availability. We don’t sell your information, and you’re not signing up for a marketing list.

Common questions.

Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, call (844) 437-9527.

Does this cost me anything?

No. Comparing is free and there’s no fee to set up service through us. The providers pay us a referral when you start service, and your price is the same as it would be going to them directly.

Is Utility Search part of College HUNKS?

No. We’re an independent company that College HUNKS works with to help their customers get set up at the new address. Your moving contract is with College HUNKS; your utility accounts are with the providers you choose. We’re the step in between.

Can I choose my electricity provider where I’m moving?

It depends on the address. Thirteen states plus Washington D.C. have residential electricity choice — Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Maine, Delaware, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Everywhere else, one utility serves your area and there’s nothing to shop. Some cities inside deregulated states are exceptions too — Austin and San Antonio, for example, are served by municipal utilities. Enter your ZIP and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in.

How far ahead should I start?

About a month out for electricity, and two to three weeks for internet — installation appointments are the bottleneck, especially during summer moving season. Home security can usually be scheduled with less notice. If your move is sooner than that, call us and we’ll work with what’s left.

What if my current provider serves my new address?

Then transferring is often the simplest option, and we’ll tell you so. It’s still worth a look — moving is one of the few times you’re not under contract, and new-customer pricing at the new address is sometimes better than what you’re currently paying.

I’m renting. Is any of this worth it?

Usually more so, not less. Renters change addresses more often, rarely qualify for the loyalty pricing long-term customers get, and in deregulated states can choose their own electricity plan just like a homeowner. Security has renter-friendly options that don’t require drilling or a landlord conversation.

Will I get bombarded with calls?

No. We contact you about the setup you asked for. We don’t sell your information to third parties, and you can opt out of any messages at any time.

What if something goes wrong with the provider?

Your account is with the provider, so their support handles service issues. But if you got to them through us and you’re stuck, call (844) 437-9527 — we’d rather help you sort it than have you fight a phone tree alone.
