TDS Internet: The Two-Ladder Fiber Deal — $49.99 for Two Years or $74.99 for Life
TDS internet in September 2026 means one of three very different products depending on your street: symmetrical fiber from $40 a month (300 Mbps, 12-month promo) or $49.99 for 1 Gig locked two years, a “Price for Life” fiber tier at $74.99 for 1 Gig with no expiration, or legacy cable and DSL tiers in the towns TDS bought from Baja Broadband and others.
We pulled the live rate card at a Coeur d’Alene, Idaho address on September 6, 2026 — every price, fee and the FCC broadband label — and that is what the tables below are built on. TDS Telecom’s All-In pricing includes the Wi-Fi modem and installation; the only one-time charge is a $19.95 equipment shipping fee, and taxes are added.

What are the TDS internet plans and prices?
TDS internet is sold two ways at the same fiber address, and the difference matters more than the speed you pick. The “Best Deals” ladder is a promotional rate for 12 or 24 months that reverts to a regular rate afterward. The “Price for Life” ladder costs more on day one but never expires. Here is the TDS internet rate card the Coeur d’Alene address returned on September 6, 2026.

The arithmetic on the two ladders is simple. On 1 Gig, the promo saves $25 a month for 24 months ($600) and then costs $5 a month more than Price for Life forever. If you expect to stay past four years, Price for Life wins; if you will move or renegotiate inside two, take the promo and the $600.
On 2 Gig and above the promo gap is $25–$30 a month and the Price for Life premium after the promo ends is $5, so the same break-even applies. TDS also offers both ladders to existing customers who add TV or phone, and it will drop Price for Life if you later downgrade tiers, suspend, or disconnect.
What does TDS “All-In” pricing actually include?
TDS internet moved to All-In pricing in July 2025, and the package builder confirms what that covers. The standard Wi-Fi modem, normally $12 a month, is $0 on every fiber plan. Professional installation is required and normally $49.95, but every current offer carries a waiver that credits it back. There is no contract, no data cap, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Two things are not included: a one-time $19.95 equipment shipping and handling fee, and government taxes, which vary by location. A $15 processing fee appears on the FCC label but is waived at installation.

How fast is TDS fiber really?
The FCC broadband label TDS attaches to its 1 Gig plan is the cleanest answer: typical download 948 Mbps, typical upload 937 Mbps, typical latency 9 ms, unlimited data. That is a 95% delivery rate on a symmetrical gig, and 9 ms latency is the number that separates fiber from every cable and fixed-wireless product on this site. The 2, 5 and 8 Gig tiers require multi-gig Ethernet on your own devices to see their full speed over a wire, and Wi-Fi 7 to get anywhere close wirelessly, which is why TDS bundles a Wi-Fi 7 router with those three tiers only.
The cable and DSL side of TDS internet is a different world. In the towns TDS acquired from Baja Broadband (Knoxville-area Tennessee, Farmington, New Mexico and others) and its legacy copper exchanges, the tiers are Mach 25 Mbps, Warp 50 Mbps and WarpX 100 Mbps at $49.99 a month, plus a cable 1 Gig at $69.99. Those are download figures; uploads are a fraction of that. If the address checker shows you those names instead of “Fiber,” you are on the old network, and the copper connections are the ones TDS is steadily retiring as it builds fiber.

Where is TDS internet available, and is it fiber at your address?
TDS Telecom, the wireline arm of Telephone and Data Systems, serves about 1.05 million service addresses across roughly 30 states, concentrated in Wisconsin (its Madison headquarters territory), the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West, the upper Midwest, the Southeast, and the former Baja Broadband cable towns in Tennessee, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Texas and Arizona. As of June 30, 2026 it had 567,700 residential broadband connections: 313,900 on fiber, 176,100 on cable, and 77,700 on copper.
That fiber number is the one moving. TDS added about 66,000 marketable fiber addresses in the second quarter alone and raised its 2026 target to 250,000–300,000 new fiber addresses, backed by a capital budget of $625–$675 million.

At $49.99 for a symmetrical gig with 9 ms latency, TDS Fiber’s promo undercuts every fixed-wireless plan on speed by five to ten times and matches them on price. The only reason to pick 5G over TDS Fiber at an address that has both is the carrier phone discount, and even then the $40 300M fiber tier is faster and cheaper than any $35 bundled fixed-wireless plan except on the first bill. Against cable, the case is upload speed: 1,000 Mbps up versus 40.
Is TDS internet worth it?
Yes, if your address returns “Fiber.” TDS internet on fiber is one of the few regional fiber networks that publishes symmetrical speeds, an FCC label showing 95% delivery, an included Wi-Fi modem, and a genuine no-expiration price on 1 Gig for under $75. The two-ladder TDS internet structure lets you choose between a $600 upfront saving and a permanent rate, which is more flexibility than most fiber providers offer. Pair it with TDS Mobile at $15 a line and a two-line household is paying less than a single cable bill.
Be cautious if your address returns Mach, Warp or WarpX. Those are DSL-era tiers at fiber-era prices — $49.99 for 25 Mbps is not competitive with a $35 fixed-wireless plan delivering 100–300 Mbps — and TDS’s own strategy is to overbuild those areas with fiber. If you are on TDS copper today, ask when fiber reaches your street before renewing, and compare T-Mobile, Verizon or AT&T Internet Air as a bridge.
What are the TDS TV+, phone and mobile bundles?
At the Coeur d’Alene address the TDS internet package builder showed Internet + TDS TV+ from $68.50 a month (promo) or $103.49 (Price for Life), Internet + TV+ + Phone from $88.49 or $98.48 with a two-year lock (Price for Life $123.48), and Internet + Phone from $49.99 ($84.98 Price for Life). TDS TV+ includes live TV, locals and regional sports, built-in streaming apps, a Google Assistant voice remote, and a free six-month upgrade to the Voyage tier worth $102. The phone line includes voicemail, caller ID, call waiting and robocall blocking.
TDS Mobile, sold only to TDS internet customers and running on what TDS describes as America’s largest 5G network, is the bigger lever: 50% off new lines brings the Unlimited plan to $15 a month and By-the-Gig to $7. It is ordered and billed separately from the internet account, and the discount is a promotional rate, so confirm the end date at checkout.
